Otherwise for my main, I see buying a boost as cutting content for me to explore, so I choose not to. I only bought a single boost on my 2 alt characters because I don't really feel the need to go through the story again, and if I get that itch then new game + exists. They had the means to catch up, and that's all that really mattered to me. I like that the boosts gave them a way to play with me, even though they didn't invest the time I had to the game. My friends have used boosts since they work long hours and don't have as much time to play. You have trusts and MSQ quests to give you time to get a handle on your job's abilities, and most of the job rotations change drastically once you hit certain level brackets anyway. That's totally acceptable, as FFXIV offers a lot for players besides story time. It doesn't take you to the end, but it helps get you in striking distance, which is nice.Ī lot of people are coming from other games and want to play with their friends, but they aren't particularly story people. As you said, boosting a job/story eliminates an abundance of hours in playtime. I think the boosts are there for good reason, and mostly, the people who buy them are using it for the right one.
